“Marriage is delicious.” These were the words of Nigerian entrepreneur, communicator, and women’s advocate Tara Fela-Durotoye, speaking on Today’s Woman—a statement that beautifully captures her personal experience of marriage after 25 years.
Reflecting on her journey, Tara said she could confidently describe marriage as delicious because she has experienced being cared for, respected, loved, and pampered.
“I’m a woman who is cared for, who is respected, who is loved, [and] pampered, and that was the experience I hoped to have in marriage, and I got it.”
For Tara, the experience she hoped for in marriage became her reality.
However, marriage was not the only part of her journey that unfolded in a remarkable way. She also spoke about motherhood, admitting that having children was something she was not entirely sure about. Today, she is a mother of three—a journey she attributes to the grace of God.
Despite the uncertainties she experienced, Tara expressed gratitude for how her life has unfolded.
“Am I happy? Yes. Did everything turn out the way I wanted to? No. But where it is now, I’m in a purposeful life, and I love it,” she said.
Her reflection offers a simple but powerful reminder: life may not always unfold exactly as we imagine, but we can still find purpose, happiness, and gratitude in the journey.
For Tara Fela-Durotoye, 25 years of marriage have given her a story she can look back on with appreciation—one defined by love, care, motherhood, and grace.
