Fancy a weekend surrounded by beautifully kept classic motors then sitting down to a paella lunch with fellow motoring fans? Velez-Malaga is bringing exactly that, as part of its weekend designed for lovers of all things car.
Three days of motoring from Friday
Velez-Malaga’s Feria del Motor runs from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18, drawing businesses, professionals and enthusiasts to what the town hall describes as a leading date in its commercial calendar. Throughout the weekend, the VIII Feria del Automovil de Ocasion, a used-car fair, welcomes visitors to the town’s fairground with dealerships and specialist companies on hand. Visitors can look over different vehicles, compare models and get professional advice, ideal for anyone weighing up a purchase. Clemente Carmona, manager of Clemen Auto and one of the organisers, says the fair gives professionals a shared space to present their vehicles and meet potential buyers face to face.
Sunday’s classic car rally and prizes up for grabs
Sunday brings the IV Concentracion y Ruta de Vehiculos Clasicos, a classic car gathering and drive that mixes engines with local history. Participants arrive at the fairground between 9am and 10am, then set off at 11:30am for a rally to the fortress tower and the Holy Week museum. Everyone returns at 1:30pm for a paella lunch at 2:30pm, with two drinks included, and the prize-giving follows at 4pm.
Owners will be competing for three awards: the oldest vehicle, the most “veteran” driver and the vehicle that has come from the furthest away. Each gives rally entrants more than enough reason to bring their pride and joy out of the garage.
How to enter
Registration costs €15 per vehicle and driver, and companions pay €5. Sign-up is online via the QR code on the official poster. Given that lunch is part of the deal, it looks like a reasonable price for a full day out. To find the QR code, poster and all information about the entire weekend, visit the Velez Malaga Town Hall Facebook page.
