Is Trump Shifting America’s Foreign Policy? Bipartisan Backlash Grows Over Russia Ties
U.S. President Donald Trump is facing growing criticism from both Republicans and Democrats over his efforts to restore economic ties with Russia, including reported plans to increase Russian fuel supplies to global markets amid the energy crisis linked to the Iran war and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Critics warn that easing restrictions on Russian oil could boost Vladimir Putin’s revenues and help finance Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine
Trump has also reportedly urged Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian oil facilities, raising concerns in Europe that Washington is putting greater pressure on Kyiv than on Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine was not consulted about the reported U.S.-Russia arrangement.
While Trump seeks to lower energy prices for American consumers, critics warn that the strategy could undermine sanctions pressure on Russia and reshape America’s traditional alliances.
