PAJU — The Gyeonggido Business and Science Accelerator said on the 13th that it is running a winter coat donation drive through the 16th with tenant companies and partner organizations at the Gwanggyo and Pangyo Techno Valley complexes to help foreign residents in the province.
The drive is intended to help migrant workers, foreign students and multicultural families who are unaccustomed to South Korea's cold winters. The agency said it is taking part in the ninth edition of First Winter Sharing Clothes, a public-private donation program, to help spread a culture of giving.
To encourage participation by employees, collection bins have been placed in the first-floor lobbies of key buildings in Gwanggyo — four sites including the Gyeonggi Bio Center and the Gyeonggi R&DB Center — and in Pangyo, where three sites include the Global R&D Center and Startup Campus. The bins are gathering jackets, coats and padded parkas.
The donated coats will be cleaned and sorted, then listed on the First Winter Sharing Clothes online platform. Foreign residents who need them can apply directly and receive the items by parcel delivery.
The agency said the campaign marks the start of broader efforts to practice everyday giving with tenant companies and to expand its ESG social contribution activities.
"We hope the warm hearts of employees at our tenant companies reach our foreign neighbors," said Lee So-yeon, head of the agency's Techno Valley Innovation Division. "We will continue to spread the value of sharing that brings warmth to the local community."
