The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has mourned the death of Afenifere leader and elder statesman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing his life as one defined by integrity, principle and dedicated public service.
Oyedele stated this in a tribute to the late Yoruba leader, who died at the age of 100.
He recalled Fasoranti’s tenure as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under the administration of Chief Michael Ajasin, saying his record remained a benchmark for financial management.
“For those of us in economic management, his record as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under Chief Michael Ajasin remains a clear benchmark of prudence, accountability, and ethical stewardship,” he said.
The minister, who described himself as a proud son of Ondo State, said he shared in the grief of the people over the elder statesman’s passing.

He said the most fitting tribute to Fasoranti’s century of service was for leaders to uphold the values he demonstrated throughout his life.
“The finest tribute to his century of service is to lead with the discipline, fairness, and commitment to the public good that he demonstrated throughout his life,” Oyedele said.
He also extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere community and the people of Ondo State.
“My thoughts and deepest condolences go to the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere community, and the people of Ondo State.
“May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
