Forget the beauty pageant drama, Malawi has found a new queen to fight for online.
Leonorah Cooke, Miss Teen Universe Malawi 2026, is turning Facebook into a Malawian cheering arena, with more than 21,000 likes and 9,000 comments (as of 07:00 am Saturday) putting her in pole position in the competition’s second social media challenge.
And the numbers are talking.
With 31 contestants in the race, Cooke is outshining her rivals in the online battle, leaving Malawians clicking, commenting and sharing as they push their queen towards the coveted top 20.
Her closest challenger, Miss Teen Universe Cuba, has attracted around 11,000 likes. But while the Cuban contestant is still below 500 comments, Cooke’s comment section has exploded past 9,000.
That is where the real battle is being fought. Every valid comment earns three points, while a like and a share each bring one point. Only one comment per account counts, and the voting window lasts 48 hours.
In other words, Malawi’s fingers are doing the talking, and every click could make the difference between cruising into the top 20 and watching from the sidelines.
But the Facebook frenzy is only part of Cooke’s story.
The beauty queen left Malawi for South Africa on Friday, where she is expected to complete her final preparations, including training and wardrobe checks, before boarding a midnight flight to Cambodia on Saturday for the Miss Teen Universe 2026 competition.
Her preparations are being guided by Lorraine Loshaq Kljajić, founder and chief executive officer of Miss Culture Global, Lush Africa Foundation and Miss Tourism Malawi.
Cooke’s growing support also offers a striking contrast to the noise that surrounded Malawi’s participation in Miss World through Ireen Navicha.
Navicha’s selection sparked a social media storm after she was chosen instead of Miss Malawi titleholder Thandi Chisi, turning what should have been a celebration of Malawi’s beauty queen into a heated debate over who deserved the crown.
This time, the online conversation appears to have a different soundtrack. Instead of the selection controversy dominating the headlines, Malawians are pouring their energy into pushing Cooke forward.
The voting rules are simple, but every click counts. Each valid comment on Cooke’s photo earns three points, while a like and a share each score one point.
However, only one comment per Facebook account is accepted, and the challenge runs for 48 hours.
