The Political Command Centre Is Back on X.
Some of us, the X-holics, have been battling ulcers and digital fibroids since the ISO-certified, leading media hub in East Africa announced, about four months ago, that the X handles of two of its mega brands had been hacked.
Facts be told: NBS TV has been a beacon of live tweeting and a palm-of-the-hand source of first and fast information. It has helped make the mobile handset the newsroom in the palms of millions of Ugandans and audiences across the globe.
Today, virtually every newfangled facet of media innovation that goes viral across Uganda’s mainstream media landscape seems to find its way through the broadcast wing at Plot 13, Summit View, Naguru. But it appeared the devil—and that crypto-currency hacker—was at his antics after setting his sights on an account with more than two million followers.
But, alas! The devil is a liar.
NBSBreakingNews is here.
That is a sigh of relief.
The X-ers of the Pearl of Africa now have a reason to smile. The handle is @NBSBreakingNews.
We know the tireless NextCom team is working like an insatiable termite to see the prodigal two-million-follower account safely returned to its rightful hands. But, for now, every X enthusiast has a new home from which to find NBS TV’s breaking news and digital content.
Losing an account built over so many years is no simple challenge. It is more than losing a username and a password; it means losing a digital community, years of accumulated trust, audience loyalty and a powerful channel that connects a media house to the public.
Digital pirates bite hard. They come like the thief described in Scripture—to steal, kill and destroy.
But thanks to the media gurus and their digital army, the story is not ending there.
The Political Command Centre is back on X.
Welcome back, NBSBreakingNews.
And to the over two million X audience: come back home. The devil is a liar.
