ISLAMABAD: The tragic suicide case of Laiba has taken a new turn, as the main culprit’s brother has also been exposed as a fraudster currently serving time in jail, ARY News reported.
The main fraudster—whose cheating claimed an innocent life—is Noman’s brother, identified as Waqas. He is presently detained in Mansehra jail in connection with a fraud case.
Noman and his brother, along with their accomplices, routinely looted innocent people.
Furthermore, Noman had falsely presented himself as an assistant director of an intelligence agency in Mansehra. During interrogation, fake appointment letters for the intelligence agency also surfaced.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated an investigation into the Mansehra fraud case.
Earlier, a 20-year-old student of the International Islamic University Islamabad was found dead near a green belt close to Itwar Bazaar in the jurisdiction of Ramna police station.
The deceased, identified as Laiba, was a resident of G-10 Markaz. According to police officials, she had allegedly paid Rs5 million to an agent to travel to the United States but later discovered that the documents provided to her were fake.
Police said Laiba was under severe mental stress after learning about the alleged fraud. She reportedly left her home at around 2pm without informing her family.
According to officials, her family used her mobile phone location to trace her to the green belt near Itwar Bazaar, where her body was found.
Police said the incident appeared to be a case of suicide, but an investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Investigators are also examining the role of the agent and the alleged fraud involving the money paid for her planned travel to the United States.
Officials said the facts would become clear after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
