Man in his 20s stabbed to death outside busy pub in early-hours attack in Birmingham as police launch probe

A man in his 20s was stabbed to death outside a busy pub believed to be hosting an event in Birmingham in the early hours of this morning.

Police have launched a murder probe after officers rushed to the scene in the Beggars Bush pub car park on Chester Road in Sutton Coldfield just before 2am.

They found the man badly stabbed there and, despite efforts from emergency services, he died at the scene. He is believed to have been 25 years old.

No arrests have been made, but police have put out a plea for partygoers to get in touch with them to share any information about the killing and the events leading up to it.

Meanwhile, detectives are trawling through CCTV footage to identify the man's murderer.

Det Ch Insp Stacey Follows, from West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, said: 'Our investigation is at an early stage, and our thoughts are with the man's family and friends today.

'We will continue to support them as our investigation progresses, and I'd urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam or CCTV to get in touch with us as soon as possible.'

Forensic officers were seen combing the murder spot for clues and taking pictures to gather evidence. A forensic tent was set up at the scene.

Floral tributes were also laid outside the pub to commemorate the unidentified man.
