Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed five provinces on green alert Tuesday due to weather conditions associated with a trough affecting several levels of the troposphere, according to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).
The system is expected to produce increased cloudiness during the afternoon, with showers that could become moderate to heavy in some areas, along with thunderstorms and occasional wind gusts.
The provinces under green alert are Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago, Dajabón, Puerto Plata, and Valverde.
The COE urged residents in the affected areas to exercise caution and avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines with high water levels. Authorities also recommended avoiding recreational bathing areas in the provinces under alert due to the potential for sudden increases in water flow.
