2027: SDP to deploy agents to 176,846 polling units

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) said on Tuesday that it was committed to ensuring successful elections and would therefore deploy agents to the 176,846 polling units across the country.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Araba Rufus Ayenigba, disclosed this in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja.

He said the process of uploading the party’s agents for the general elections would commence in a few days.

According to him, “the personnel of the party responsible for uploading our polling agents will, as usual, be trained by the Commission, alongside those of other political parties.”

“Before this time, the SDP had undertaken nationwide training and capacity-building exercises, with institutional support from our international development partners, for our sub-national officers, who essentially operate at the party’s zonal and state levels.”

He declared that the SDP was strongly positioned, both structurally and logistically, for the task ahead.

According to him, the party was ready for the race, with funding for logistics to be drawn from the party’s treasury, financial support from candidates, its grassroots support base and a significant pool of volunteers who had signed up to provide their services to the party during the elections.

“The 2027 general elections will be a huge success if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties and stakeholders continue to abide by the rules without fear or favour,” he said.
