Western Australia batters Chloe Piparo and Mikayla Friday have re-signed with Perth Scorchers for the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League season.
The experienced pair — who have combined to make a total of 200 appearances in the competition — were both part of Perth’s squad as they fell one win short of securing the title last season.
An inaugural Scorcher, Piparo is the club’s all-time WBBL games-played record holder, having featured in 121 across the league’s 11 seasons.
Friday — nee Hinkley — will enter her fourth campaign with the Scorchers in strong form, with the middle-order batter figuring as the second-leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20 Spring Challenge.
The pair both said they were both looking forward to spending another season in orange.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the team comes together this year and playing whatever role I can to help us have a successful season,” Piparo said.
“The culture we’ve built within the group is something special, and it’s exciting to be part of what’s ahead this season,” Friday added.
The club’s general manager Kade Harvey said both Piparo and Hinkley were important additions.
“Chloe has been a significant figure in WA Cricket for many years and continues to bring outstanding leadership, experience and competitiveness to our group,” Harvey said.
“Mikayla is a respected member of the squad whose versatility and team-first approach make her an incredibly valuable player.
“Retaining quality people is a key priority for us, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact both players will continue to have as we push to go one better this season.”
The Scorchers have two list spots left to fill ahead of the start of their season on October 31, when they will take on Melbourne Renegades at the WACA Ground.
