President Museveni has called on African leaders to draw inspiration from the leadership principles of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Tanzania’s founding president, by strengthening democratic governance, protecting human rights and advancing African unity as foundations for peace, stability and sustainable economic transformation.
The president represented by the second deputy prime minister, Dr.Crispus Kiyonga further commended Nyerere-Tanzania’s support Uganda’s political instabilities era especially under Idi Amin, describing such historical solidarity as an important element of the relationship between the two countries, recalling the solidarity extended by Tanzania and other African countries to liberation movements, including those fighting colonial and minority rule in southern Africa.
This was during the Nyerere-Museveni Generation Dialogue 2026 at Makerere University, by Second Deputy Prime Minister Crispus Kiyonga, who represented President Museveni as a chief guest.
