Thousands of people in North Yorkshire and the North East are without power as Storm Boelo batters the region.
There is widespread disruption, Northern Powergrid has said, confirming that 42,000 customers remain without power.
More than 50,000 more whose electricity was knocked out by the storm have since seen it reconnected.
Strong winds and heavy rain have caused damage to its electricity network, the energy company said, with conditions forecast to persist into the evening.

“Our teams are working to assess the damage and restore supplies wherever it is safe to do so,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
“However, the severe weather continues to affect both our ability to assess the network and carry out repairs safely.”
It is impossible to predict restoration times, they added, but with wind speeds set to subside later today teams will be able to press ahead.
“However, given the amount of work that there is to do and the fact the wind will continue into the evening, some customers will remain without power beyond tonight,” the spokesperson added.
“We advise those customers for whom being without power tonight is a significant problem to err on the side of caution and consider seeking alternative accommodation.”
People who are experiencing a power cut are urged to report it online at northernpowergrid.com, or to call 105 free.
