KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional will contest the Melaka election under the coalition's own logo, with its candidates to be announced on Oct 29.
The coalition is also open to Bersatu contesting under its own logo, in line with Clause 16 of the coalition's constitution, if permitted.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the number of seats to be contested and the list of candidates had yet to be finalised.
"PN is scheduled to announce our candidates for the Melaka state election on Oct 29. However, the details have not been finalised," he told reporters after a PN emergency supreme council meeting.
Takiyuddin said PN had resumed operating as usual after the Kuala Lumpur High Court stayed all decisions by the Registrar of Societies against the coalition.
The High Court on Oct 22 stayed the Registrar of Societies' suspension and deregistration of Perikatan Nasional pending the outcome of its judicial review.
The Election Commission has fixed Oct 31 for nomination, Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling in the 16th Melaka election, following the dissolution of the state assembly on Sept 23.
In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats, while Pakatan Harapan won five and PN two.
Takiyuddin earlier said PN would ensure its candidates in Melaka did not clash with those fielded by Barisan Nasional.
