US President Donald Trump has asked the US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to resign following allegations of misconduct.
Guilfoyle, who is the ex-fiancée of Donald Trump Jr, allegedly asked a Trump donor via text message to help her pay off a six-figure credit card bill in exchange for access to his administration (BBC).
“She went to Greece, she was doing a good job, but we didn't like what we were reading,” said Trump (BBC).
“My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering,” Guilfoyle has since written as part of a lengthy social media statement. “I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again” (X).
