PETALING JAYA: A burst pipeline in Penang's mainland has disrupted water supply to 130,790 accounts in both the state's mainland and island.
The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) said the pipeline burst at about 11.30pm last night before being shut down at 2.38am to allow for repairs.
In a statement, it said repair works are expected to be completed at around 8.30pm, after which water supply will be restored in stages.
PBAPP said the pipeline was pumping water from the Sungai Dua water treatment plant to Penang island, adding that emergency protocols had been activated.
"In the meantime, PBAPP seeks the kind patience and understanding of all water consumers affected by this incident. We apologise for all inconveniences caused."
The affected areas can be found here.
