Jim Nantz has acknowledged the quality of Brock Purdy, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes but he still thinks another player in the NFL is the MVP right now.
All three quarterbacks have had excellent starts to this season, with Purdy in particular standing out after setting the career passer rating record in Week 6.
Mahomes has also looked sharp on his return from injury, while Allen has helped the Buffalo Bills shine despite some shortcomings in defence.
However, when speaking on The Pat McAfee Show this week, Nantz admitted that while the aforementioned trio have been ‘better than fine’, Kenneth Walker III is the MVP at present.
Kenneth Walker III named MVP right now
He said: “I think Kenneth Walker, having seen them already this season when they played out of Vegas two weeks ago, this guy, to me, is the MVP of the league right now at the quarter poll.
“It always gets back to the quarterbacks, people talk about [Brock] Purdy, they talk about Josh [Allen], they talk about Patrick Mahomes. OK, they’ve all been fine, they’ve all been better than fine.
“But this guy [Walker] has completely changed the look of Kansas City.”
Nantz continued: “He, to me right now, is the MVP at this point of the season.”
With Walker’s help, the Chiefs have gone 5-0 ahead of facing his former side, the Seattle Seahawks, on Monday.
But the Seahawks have struggled since losing the 2026 Super Bowl MVP, sitting with a 3-3 record at the time of writing.
