GWM Malaysia has launched the WEY G9 Hi4 HEV at RM 249,800, offering 358 PS, 782 Nm, Hi4 all-wheel drive, and no need for external charging.
GWM Malaysia has officially launched the WEY G9 Hi4 HEV, adding a self-charging hybrid option alongside the existing Hi4 PHEV.
Priced at RM249,800 in Peninsular Malaysia excluding Langkawi, the new HEV sits RM20,000 below the RM269,800 PHEV.
The launch comes after GWM Malaysia delivered 2,000 units of the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV nationwide. The company says the model is currently Malaysia’s best-selling luxury MPV above RM200,000, based on cumulative 2026 JPJ and MAA registration data.
Under the bonnet, the HEV uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid engine paired with GWM’s Hi4 electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. Combined output stands at 358PS and 782Nm.
Unlike the PHEV, there is no need for external charging, with the hybrid system automatically managing power between the combustion engine and electric drive system.
Fuel consumption is rated at 6.5 litres/100 km on the NEDC cycle, while combined driving range is claimed at up to 845km.
The seven-seat cabin retains the G9’s 2+2+3 layout, with Nappa leather for the first and second rows, ventilated front and second-row seats, and 10-point massage functions for the driver and second-row passengers. The second row also gets Zero Gravity captain seats with electric leg rests and six-way adjustment.
Boot capacity ranges from 233 to 1,725 litres depending on the seating configuration, while the cabin gets HALOSonic active noise cancellation, an acoustic windscreen, acoustic glass for the first and second-row doors, three-zone climate control, a CN95 cabin filter, and plasma air purification.
Up front, there is a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and head-up display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, together with a 50-watt wireless charger, six-zone voice recognition, and a 21-speaker premium audio system.
Other convenience features include dual powered sliding doors, a hands-free powered tailgate, keyless entry, walk-away locking, a digital rear-view mirror, 360-degree surround-view camera with transparent chassis view, and fully automated parking. Selected vehicle functions can also be controlled remotely through the GWM mobile app.
Safety equipment includes six airbags and a full suite of driver-assistance systems, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Cornering, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centre Keeping, Lane Change Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Braking, Door Open Warning, and Secondary Collision Mitigation.
Three exterior colours are available: Aurora White, Wisdom Grey, and Nebula Black, paired with a black interior and grey roof lining.
The ownership package includes a six-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 180,000 km warranty for the high-voltage battery, electric drive motor, and motor control unit.
Buyers also receive five years of free maintenance including parts and labour, valued at RM11,200, as well as five years of complimentary telematics service.
GWM Malaysia is also offering introductory financing from as low as 0.08% through selected participating banks, together with RM5,000 in trade-in support.
