To start the An Unheard Farewell quest in Valor Mortis, players will need to make their way into the Valley of Ashes. This place unlocks after fighting General Lothaire for the first time. Once in the Valley of Ashes, make your way to the next Lantern location. Once you reach there, you will find a carriage with a voice coming from inside.
This voice belongs to an Adjutant Sous-Officier, who asks you to find the scouts he sent out. If you agree to help, the An Unheard Farewell quest will begin for you.
How to Complete Valor Mortis ‘An Unheard Farewell’ Quest
The quest is fairly straightforward. All you have to do is find the missing scout’s location and defeat him to obtain the letter. Now, the issue is that the quest diverges from the main questline in the game. So, it can become difficult for players to find the scout’s location. So, here is how you can complete the Valor Mortis ‘An Unheard Farewell’ quest:
- Go down to the carriage from the Lantern, where you will find the Pistol.
- At the very bottom, you will find another lantern. Walk along the pier and jump to the spot above.

- Now, the lift will become available for use. Jump on it and wait for it to reach the first level. When the lift becomes stuck, jump to the right side and use the fire magic to burn the barrier.
- Enter the cave and make your way up until you exit. Continue going forward until you reach the top of the elevator.
- When you reach the elevator, destroy the two red blobs on each side to remove the corruption. Now call up the elevator and use it to get back down.
- While going down, look for a new platform on the left and jump to it. Burn the blocked path there and go inside the cave.
- Inside, you will find the missing scout, who will be a mini-boss. Defeat him and read the letter on the table near the ladder.
- Now, return to the Adjutant Sous-Officier to brief him about the details. This will complete the quest.
Valor Mortis ‘An Unheard Farewell’ Quest Reward
After completing the Valor Mortis ‘An Unheard Farewell’ quest, you will get the Sleight of Hand Amber. This Amber gives the following passive effect when slotted into the Skill Tree:
- Sleight of Hand: Reduces the reload times for Firearms and speeds up weapon switching.
