The Kentucky football team struggled on offense all night against a very good Oklahoma defense. However, the Wildcats defense held when it needed to, and forced four turnovers, including a pick six, and led Will Stein's team to a 21-13 victory.
Quarterback Kenny Minchey didn't post a big yardage total, but he was efficient, and found tight end Willie Rodriguez for two touchdown passes. The running game never got going, but Jason Patterson had a few big carries late.
Defensively, both teams played well. In the end, though, Kentucky's defense made the biggest plays. They sacked John Mateer, and even when they didn't get him down, they kept him under pressure. He threw two big interceptions late, including one that Jordan Castell returned for a score, and another to Ty Bryant that ended the game.
Fans, as always, quickly took to social media to talk about the win. Here are some of the best posts on X from Big Blue Nation after the game.

More Will Stein praise
Coach Stein reminds me of a young Coach Pitino when he started at UK. Very confident and believes he will win!
— Coach Hanson (@Reghanson) October 18, 2026
When coaches exhibit the kind of confidence he does it rubs off on the players.
The players will believe they can compete against and beat anyone.
