Welcome to the 2026-27 NBA season. The Boston Celtics will face the Detroit Pistons in the season opener, with tipoff at 3 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
The Celtics will look a bit different this year after trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. Coming off a career year, Brown was sent to Philadelphia in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks (2028, 2031) and two second-round picks (2028, 2030). Now, with Jayson Tatum back at the center of it all after the Achilles injury that cost him last season, it will be fascinating to see how Boston fares without the five-time All-Star.
Things are finally settling down for the Pistons after a contentious contract standoff with Jalen Duren lasted most of the offseason. The stalemate ended in early October, when the restricted free agent agreed to a five-year, $200 million deal. With that behind them, Detroit will look to bounce back after a disappointing second-round playoff exit as the No. 1 seed in the East.
