Few beauty brands have become a go-to across generations. The best L’Oréal Paris makeup comes with history, whether you snuck the iconic Colour Riche Satin Lipstick out of your mother’s makeup bag or at least heard the familiar tagline: “Because you’re worth it.” Founded in 1909, L’Oréal Paris first made its mark on the hair dye market before expanding into makeup and skin care in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Fast forward to present day, and we're just as much fans of classics—such as the True Match Super-Blendable Foundation and Voluminous Original Mascara—as we are of more recent launches, including the Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray and Lumi Bronzer Stick. They all prove one thing: Elegant textures, glass-skin finishes, and clump-free formulas don’t have to come with a luxury price tag.

Infallible Blur-Fection Loose Setting Powder
Allure commerce editor Madison San Miguel applying the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Blur-Fection Loose Setting Powder
Madison San MiguelWhy it’s worth it: We’ll say it time and time again: Finishing your base with setting powder is the secret to long-lasting makeup. But trying new formulas can be a crease-filled gamble. The Best of Beauty-winning Infallible Blur-Fection Loose Setting Powder, however, doesn’t require guesswork. Unlike many traditional powders, this formula takes a talc-free approach. (ICYMI: Talc has been through much scrutiny because of potential asbestos contamination.)
Instead, it relies on less-controversial cornstarch to absorb oil and smooth the look of pores, pairing it with two potent hydrators—sodium hyaluronate and squalane—to keep skin feeling comfortable. All four shades lend an airy, soft-focus finish that doesn’t leave your complexion looking flat, but if you want more brightening benefits, Light and Deep Pink subtly color-correct without veering into blush territory.

Madison San Miguel“Emphasis on blur when it comes to this setting powder! I've tried many formulas—loose, pressed, you name it—that promise the same claim, but this truly lives up to the hype. It didn't apply in one clump, diffused into my skin with ease, and left a smooth, photo-ready finish (that wasn't too pinky, even with its bright pink hue). While the powder does have a natural-matte finish, it was far from drying on my dry to very dry skin.” —Madison San Miguel, commerce editor
Tester feedback from associate social media manager Katie Gunderman
"The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Blur-Fection Longwear Loose Setting Powder is what I grab over all other powders when I need long-lasting wear. It mattifies immediately and keeps makeup looking good (my cream products never crease!) after a full day of wear. I love that it comes in brightening and translucent shades, both of which perform better than my luxury powders—and for only $16." —Katie Gunderman, associate social media manager

Panorama Chromatics Mascara in Burgundy Cashmere
Allure commerce editor Sarah Han applying the L'Oréal Paris Panorama Chromatics Mascara in Burgundy Cashmere
Sarah HanWhy it’s worth it: L’Oréal Paris’s twists on classic mascara shades might just make you ditch your everyday black. We’re hooked on the Panorama Chromatics Mascara in Burgundy Cashmere, a deep, warm burgundy that gives subtle drama and flatters every eye color, but the other two low-commitment shades—Blue Suede and Brown Leather—are also worth the swipe. The formula pairs glycerin and flexible polymers to coat and define every lash without weighing them down, while the dual-length brush prevents clumps and lengthens from root to tip. At $15, it's an especially appealing option for anyone with finer lashes or who has trouble coating hard-to-reach areas.

“I love a non-black mascara. Really, black mascara overwhelms my eyes when it comes to my everyday makeup, so I typically reserve it for a heavier eye look and regularly reach for a brown or burgundy mascara instead. The drugstore makeup scene has great burgundy mascaras, which is excellent news for my bank account and last-minute dashes when I've realized my current tube has dried out. I haven't quite figured out which mascara wand shape is best to coax my short-as-can-be lashes out of hiding as much as humanly possible, but the Chromatics wand does the trick for a subtle lifted look! The slimmer tip catches my inner lashes well, too.” —Sarah Han, commerce editor
Tester feedback from former senior commerce editor Sarah Felbin
"The gorgeous burgundy color is one that I can actually see without layering a white lash primer underneath. It stays on all day and doesn't flake or smudge, which is a miracle for me since I have super-oily eyelids. I also love the tapered shape of the wand, which makes it easy to apply." —Sarah Felbin, former senior commerce editor

Allure contributing commerce writer Christa Joanna Lee applying the L'Oréal Paris Lumi Bronze Le Stick
Christa Joanna LeeWhy it’s worth it: Whether you’re a contouring pro or still figuring out the best bronzer placement for your face, the cream-to-powder formula in the Lumi Bronze Le Stick seamlessly diffuses into skin with just enough sheen—even if you accidentally get a little heavy-handed—before settling into a fresh, “just-left-the-beach” glow that stays put. It comes in five shades (one rosy bronze, one light-to-medium shade, two for medium-to-tan skin tones, and one deep bronze) in a petite packaging that makes it easy to throw in your work bag whenever you’re craving some color.

Christa Joanna Lee“My skin doesn’t know how to tan—only burn—so bronzer is basically my shortcut to looking not pale and ghostly. I’m honestly surprised L'Oréal Paris' Lumi Bronze Le Stick Soleil Bronzer Stick stays solid in the tube because the second it hits my skin, it melts in like butter. You can be pretty generous with it, too: The color blends out sheer enough that I’ve swept more or less all over my face for a natural, sun-kissed glow that never screams ‘hey, you're wearing bronzer!’ And because the stick is only slightly bigger than a lipstick, it’s really easy to toss in my bag and blend on the go with nothing but my fingers.” —Christa Joanna Lee, contributing commerce writer

Allure beauty director Sarah Kinonen applying the L'Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Le Liquid Blush
Sarah KinonenWhy it’s worth it: When we say a little goes a long way with the True Match Lumi Le Liquid Blush, we mean it. Just one small dot of product atop your cheeks, nose bridge, or anywhere you like to go all out (for those who prefer the “blush blind” route) adds instant, bold flush. That means you can count on the blush to stick around for a while without hitting the pan. The easy-to-blend formula is also available in radiant and soft-matte finishes, so you have plenty of room to customize your color.

Sarah Kinonen“There are two things I love most in life: a dewy liquid blush and a beauty product that costs under $20. This L'Oréal Paris Le Lumi Blush hits both marks, and I'm absolutely obsessed with it! As you can see in the video above, a little bit goes a ~long~ way (one to two dots with the doe-foot applicator is all you need—it's super pigmented!), but it diffuses really easily with a fluffy blush brush. I like to wear it solo over my foundation and bronzer, but if you prefer to layer your blushes, a powder formula would look just as nice. I've been using this blush for months, but you wouldn't be able to tell—I'm still nowhere near hitting pan!” —Sarah Kinonen, beauty director
Tester feedback from Lee
“Helloooo, pigment. I learned very quickly that a little L'Oréal Paris Lumi Le Liquid Blush goes a very long way: The first time I tried Dewy Bright Pink, I dotted it on three or four times per cheek and promptly had to start over. The super-bright shade definitely added to the learning curve on my pale skin. It turns out one tiny dot is all I need for a fresh flush of color. The formula itself blends seamlessly, but because it’s so pigmented, I wouldn’t attempt this one with my fingers—a brush or makeup sponge gives you much more control to diffuse the color. One big benefit: On top of already being so affordable, since you need so little product per application, this tiny tube might last approximately...forever.” —Christa Joanna Lee, contributing commerce writer

The Finishing Touch: L’Oréal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray

Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray
Allure social media manager Bianca Richards applying the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray
Bianca RichardsWhy it’s worth it: When your 8 a.m. makeup doesn’t make it past lunchtime, chances are you need a new setting spray. The 2025 Best of Beauty-winning Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray is the finishing touch you need for makeup that still looks fresh by the time you clock out of work. Allure editors have consistently praised its fine, lightweight mist and a finish that sets within seconds. Once dry, the formula helps keep makeup transfer- and sweat-resistant for up to 36 hours thanks to flexible, fast-drying copolymers. (Though we’ve never tested it for that long, and probably don’t recommend you do, either!)
"When I came across this product on TikTok, I was instantly convinced that this would be my new favorite setting spray. I ran through tubes of the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Matte foundation in college because there's something about that Infallible formula that locks in my makeup for the long run. Since those days are long gone, getting my hands on the spray was the best decision I made going into the summer because my makeup did not budge at all.”—Bianca Richards, social media manager

All Volume, Zero Flakes: L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Volume Mascara

Voluminous Lash Paradise Volume Mascara
Allure content director Sophia Panych applying the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Volume Mascara
Sophia PanychWhy it’s worth it: Even if you haven’t tried hundreds of mascaras like we have (perks of the job!), Lash Paradise Volume Mascara’s reflective pink packaging is instantly recognizable in the drugstore aisle—and in the makeup bags of Allure editors past and present. For starters, the formula relies on jojoba and palm oils to help keep even sensitive lashes feeling flexible and comfortable. We’d even argue its impactful, flake-free volume gives falsies a run for its money, and the buildable, smudge-resistant wear lets you layer on without the dreaded clump situation. It’s a win-win.

Panych after applying the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Volume Mascara
Sophia Panych“L'Oréal Paris has always made spectacular mascaras at great price points. Case in point: I've probably had a L'Oréal Paris tube in my makeup bag since 2002. The jet-black formula adds impressive length and volume and stays flexible throughout the day to avoid flaking or irritated eyes (I'm a contact lens wearer so this is an issue for me), while the bushy bristles fan out and separate your lashes, avoiding clumps. Now, nearly every mascara smudges under my lashes these days—it's a matter of when, not if—but this formula stays put the longest, getting through at least an entire workday until it starts to migrate under my eyes (I skip mascara on my lower lashes unless it's a tubing or waterproof formula). My only ask is that the brand sorts out the wiper in the tube. The flat tip of the wand can pick up a lot of excess product when you remove it, which I always wipe off on a tissue or the top of the tube before combing it through my lashes.” -— Sophia Panych, content director

Lee applying the L’Oréal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum
Christa Joanna LeeWhy it’s worth it: We reach for the True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum anytime we’re in the mood for a no-makeup makeup look. As a great serum foundation does, it strikes a happy balance of just enough coverage without masking your skin. “It’s lightweight and fluid, but once it sets, it really holds up—perfect for long days when you still want that natural, skin-like finish,” Magen Grays, a makeup artist based in Atlanta, previously told Allure. That’s all thanks to a hydrating lineup of glycerin and hyaluronic acid, plus oil-absorbing perlite and flexible firm-formers that help keep the formula in place as it moves with your facial features throughout the day.

“I have dry skin with melasma that got noticeably worse over the summer when I give my tretinoin routine a break, so I want coverage—but absolutely hate feeling like I’m wearing a ton of makeup. That’s why I love a good serum foundation: It keeps my skin feeling hydrated, and unlike tinted moisturizers, which have always felt a tad too heavy for me, I can build up the coverage exactly where I need it. With the L'Oréal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum Foundation, it took about three to four layers to get the coverage I wanted over my melasma, but even then, it never looked or felt cakey; quite the opposite, it has a barely-there feel that’s surprisingly lightweight for how much I layered on. The formula is pretty fluid and drippy, so I found it much less messy to dispense it directly onto my foundation brush rather than drop it onto my face like I did in this video. The dropper definitely reinforces the whole skin-care-serum experience, but in practice, I found the brush method much easier to control.” —Christa Joanna Lee, contributing commerce writer

Alessandra ForestoWhy it’s worth it: This pillowy-soft Hyaluron Lip Oil acts like a gloss, lip balm, and plumper in one, so it’s safe to say you won’t mind reapplying throughout the day. This oil keeps dry lips comfortable and looking juicy, thanks to hydrating hyaluronic acid and smoothing tripeptides, while minty menthol and peppermint oil plump without the painful sting. Bonus: The large plush applicator picks up plenty of product, delivering a punchy wash of color in one clean swoop.

“I'm not usually a fan of the tingle of plumping lip products, but in my experience this lip oil is on the milder side. Despite its plumping effects, it doesn't leave my lips dry at the end of a day of wear. It tastes like slightly sweet peppermint and has a nice shine that doesn't feel tacky or look shimmery—a lip product pet peeve of mine!” —Alessandra Foresto, managing editor

Blurfiller Blurring Lip Contour
Allure commerce editorial assistant Hailey Roy applying the L'Oréal Paris Blurfiller Blurring Lip Contour
Hailey RoyWhy it’s worth it: If you find pointy, precision-driven liners quite finicky, the Blurfiller Blurring Lip Contour’s rounded tip makes defining and filling your lips practically foolproof. It’s wide enough to overline and contour, but not in an overdone way, making it a makeup and lip combo essential. Vitamin E, beeswax, and hydrated silica keep the formula effortlessly smooth, so it glides across the lips without skidding or tugging.

“I’m absolutely and genuinely obsessed with this lip liner. It has officially cemented its place in my everyday makeup routine. The formula glides on effortlessly with a creamy, almost buttery texture, making it incredibly easy to get a smooth, precise line without tugging at the lips. I also love that the applicator has a slightly thicker profile than your typical lip pencil. I personally prefer a fuller, more defined lip line, and the wider tip gives me a little more control and makes it much easier to build up the shape without worrying about my application looking uneven. It’s one of those design details that makes a surprisingly big difference.” —Hailey Roy, commerce editorial assistant

Ready to Glow: L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion
Why it’s worth it: If glass-like skin is high on your priority list, the True Match Lumi Glotion is practically liquid makeup gold. Shea butter and glycerin sit near the top of its ingredient list, helping skin look plump and hydrated on days it needs a little pick-me-up. Its real superpower, though, is its versatility: Depending on the shade, you can use it as a radiance-boosting primer, swipe it over your collarbones for a sun-kissed sheen, or tap it onto the cheekbones for a fresh, lit-from-within glow—all without veering into discoball territory.

Frequently Asked Questions
How we test and review products
Before reviewing any makeup, we ask questions about a number of factors: What ingredients are in it? Does the brand offer a wide shade range inclusive of consumers with all skin tones and undertones? Is it safe for readers who have sensitive skin or wear contact lenses? Is it on the affordable side or more of a splurge? Is its packaging consciously designed or needlessly wasteful?
For our review of the best L'Oréal Paris Makeup products, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, contributors, and makeup artists to review the products. This ensures our testing base spans different skin tones, genders, and dermatological conditions. We considered each product's performance across four primary categories: ingredients, wear and longevity, packaging, and inclusivity. For more on what's involved in our reporting, check out our complete reviews process and methodology page.
Our staff and testers
A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.
After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we've solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it's never been tested on curls? We're proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet
