Gospel singer Tope Alabi has threatened legal action against individuals circulating what she described as false and defamatory videos, statements and other content about her online.
The singer issued the warning in a public notice shared on her verified Instagram page, @tope_alabi_, on Friday, with the caption: “PLEASE NOTE THIS AS REGARDS ANY MALICIOUS VIDEO OR SPEECH AGAINST ME.”
The notice, dated October 23, 2026, was issued by her solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, through Toluwanimi Okunade, Esq.
In the notice, the law firm said Alabi had spent almost 30 years building a reputation for integrity and public trust, adding that it had become aware of allegedly false and damaging statements about her being published and circulated across various platforms.
The solicitors warned that anyone who publishes such material, whether through written statements, videos, audio recordings, social media posts or spoken words, could be held personally liable.

They also cautioned that individuals who repost or amplify the content could face legal consequences.
The notice further stated that using anonymous or unverified accounts would not shield offenders from liability, adding that Alabi could seek court orders compelling relevant platforms to identify those responsible.
Those who have already circulated the alleged defamatory materials were directed to remove them immediately. However, the law firm stressed that deleting the content would not automatically absolve them of liability for its initial publication.
According to the notice, Alabi has instructed her lawyers to commence legal proceedings against violators without further notice.
The legal action, the solicitors said, could include claims for aggravated damages, injunctions, retractions and public apologies.
The firm, however, clarified that the notice was not intended to prevent truthful statements or fair comment on matters of public interest.
The notice concluded: “All our Client’s rights and remedies are expressly reserved. BE ADVISED ACCORDINGLY.”
The warning comes amid the circulation of videos and online commentaries targeting the gospel singer in recent days.
