Alice's post, which features a photo of Ombija looking sharp in a blue waistcoat, has gone viral, drawing widespread admiration for the broadcaster's quiet, behind-the-scenes generosity.
How their paths crossed
At the time, Alice was working as a security guard while chasing her dream of becoming a journalist.

She described how Ombija spotted something in her that she had almost stopped believing in herself, simply from the moment she opened a gate for him while visibly down.
"As I opened the gate for him while depressed and sad, he saw through me, from that evening I resumed classes. I called him daddy whenever I saw him upto date," she wrote.
With her biological father having passed away, Alice says Ombija stepped into that role without hesitation, doing what her father, Mr Muwanga, would have wanted but could not afford.
"He did it willingly, he did what my dad Mr Muwanga failed not because he didn't want to but he had no money. He made my dream of being a journalist come true when I was just a security personnel. Trevor Ombija, my destiny helper, my 2nd dad," she added.
A legacy that goes beyond television
Even after Ombija departed Citizen TV Kenya in 2023 to pursue business interests, including a restaurant venture, Alice says his impact on her life has never faded.
"Protect Trevor for me and other souls that might need him in future. Ameen... To Mr Trevor...you don't know the impact you left in my life even if you left Citizen TV Kenya. You are my daddy even if you are young at age. Some people will live long. Trevor will live long in Jesus Name," she wrote.
The post resonated deeply with many Kenyans, who praised Ombija for choosing to change lives quietly rather than publicly. For a figure so accustomed to the spotlight, Alice's account is a rare and moving look at the person behind the screen.
