Manchester City have now won seven Premier League matches in a row this season as Enzo Maresca’s side beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The result means that Man City, on 21 points, extend the gap ahead of second-place Arsenal in the league standings to six points, with the Gunners set to play Nottingham Forest on the road on Sunday.
It was Phil Foden who opened the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute after slotting home a pass from Jeremy Doku from close range. However, Daizen Maeda equalised for Ipswich two minutes later.
Erling Haaland restored Man City’s lead from close range in the 34th minute and scored again in the 69th minute to make it 3-1. He thought he had netted a third in the 85th minute but was ruled out by the VAR for an offside.
Zian Flemming pulled one back for Ipswich from the spot kick on the 90th minute mark, but it was too late to rescue a point as Man City secured the maximum three points to continue an impressive start to the season.
Meanwhile, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Pedro Neto scored a brace as Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 to move up to fourth on the league table with 13 points.
Following a goalless first half, Neto broke the deadlock for Chelsea inside the opening minute of the second half, latching onto a deflected ball inside the 18-yard box in the 90th minute to seal the victory for the Blues.
Another team on the road was Liverpool, which came back from a goal down to beat nine-man Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford took the lead in the 44th minute through Keane Lewis-Potter from a header assist by Igor Thiago, but were reduced to 10 men just before the halftime whistle after Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off for violent conduct.
Viktor Munoz equalised for Liverpool in the 62nd minute before Alexander Isak scored what ended up being the winning goal for the Reds eight minutes later, tapping home a contested ball inside the box.
Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt was given the marching orders in added time after receiving a second yellow card.
