TUMPAT: "Although there were slight wounds on the side of her face, she looked peaceful," said the brother of Norhazwani Ibrahim, who was believed to have been killed by her husband in Nilai, Negri Sembilan, last Thursday.
Mohd Hazwan Ibrahim, 38, said he was overcome with emotion when he saw his sister's face for the final time after her shroud was opened.
"Her face looked calm. I am relieved that everything has been settled," he said when met after the burial at the Tanjung Muslim Cemetery here at 1.50am today.
"After two days, Wani's remains have finally been safely laid to rest."
Norhazwani, a Customs officer who had transferred to the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) scheme, was stationed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
It was previously reported that she was allegedly stabbed by her husband at their home in the KLIA quarters in Nilai on Thursday.
She suffered two stab wounds to the left abdomen and one to the right cheek.
The suspect surrendered to police shortly after the incident and was remanded for seven days from yesterday to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
A post-mortem found that Norhazwani died from pressure applied to her neck.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the cause of death was determined following a five-hour post-mortem at the Forensic Medicine Department of Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar yesterday.
He said physical examinations also found three stab wounds caused by a sharp weapon — two to the abdomen and one to the right cheek.

About 200 people, comprising family members, MCBA personnel, Customs Department personnel, police officers and local villagers, attended the funeral.
Also present were MCBA deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Mohd Nasaruddin M. Nasir and Tumpat police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie.
Hazwan said he and his family were focusing on settling the remaining matters, including the tahlil prayers, for now.
He said they had yet to decide on long-term plans for Norhazwani's two daughters, aged five and six.
"They were already under the care of my elder sister here previously. So, we intend to keep them with us," he said.
