Celestia’s TIA token jumped 32% in 24 hours on October 16, 2026. That put it at the front of a rally that lifted at least 15 altcoins by more than 10% over the same stretch.
The move pushed TIA to approximately $0.69 to $0.70.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin sat mostly still, trading around $82,000. When the biggest asset in the room stays calm, traders tend to go shopping for smaller ones.
The numbers behind the rally
The 32% daily gain lifted TIA’s market capitalization to an estimated $650 to $670 million. Trading volume over the same 24 hours landed somewhere between $168 million and $203 million.
Bitcoin was changing hands near $82,100 as TIA picked up steam, and four of the top five tokens in the CoinDesk 100 posted price increases.
The CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index climbed to 60 during the session. The index measures how altcoins are performing relative to Bitcoin, so a higher reading means the smaller names are pulling more of the weight.
The rally also arrived with rising open interest and spot inflows behind it. Open interest tracks the total value of outstanding derivatives bets, and spot inflows reflect actual buying of the token itself. Both rising together suggests the move was not driven by leverage alone.
Only about 34% of tracked altcoins were posting weekly gains, which means the rally was loud but not especially wide.
What has been powering Celestia
TIA’s 24-hour pop extends an advance that had already been building for weeks. Over the preceding period, the token posted a cumulative increase of approximately 45% to 59%.
That momentum was potentially driven by a string of network milestones. The headliner: Celestia Fibre hit a record data throughput of 3.07 terabits per second, a benchmark said to enable approximately 2 billion transactions per second.
Earlier in October 2026, Derive V3 selected Celestia as its data availability layer, a choice that added activity to the network.
A data availability layer is the part of the stack responsible for making sure transaction data is published and accessible. When a platform picks Celestia for that job, it is effectively outsourcing one of its most critical plumbing tasks to the network.
What this means for traders and the altcoin market
The most obvious read is that capital is rotating toward altcoins while Bitcoin holds steady. An Altcoin Season Index reading of 60 supports that interpretation, as does the cluster of double-digit gainers.
When roughly a third of altcoins are green on the week, a rally can look stronger on a leaderboard than it does across the market as a whole.
Traders watching TIA will likely focus on open interest and trading volume: if both stay elevated, the momentum may have room to run, and if they fade, a retracement becomes more plausible.
On the network side, the question is whether more platforms follow Derive V3’s lead. Throughput records make for good headlines, but sustained demand for Celestia’s data availability services is what would give the token’s recent run a firmer foundation.
