Attacks on Polish schools have brought to light a dangerous and disturbing trend among teenagers
Poland, where I’m fortunate enough to live, is one of the safer countries in one of the safer continents. A knife attack on a school was shocking, then. Two knife attacks in two days, the latter of which left a female member of staff dead, and both of which were carried out by teenagers, was downright unprecedented.
Rumours began to spread that the attacks were part of a murderous trend. People feared a “Bloody Friday”, and a “race of killings”, in which a social media challenge would inspire various knife attacks. Schools closed and students were kept at home.
