Mike Boynton Jr. has landed his first commit as Michigan basketball's head coach.
Lucai Anderson, a four-star class of 2027 shooting guard (IMG Academy) has pledged to the Wolverines, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Free Press on condition of anonymity.
Anderson is the younger brother of Christian Anderson, a one-time commit to Michigan in the Juwan Howard era who later flipped to Texas Tech after U-M brought in Dusty May. He was selected No. 18 overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2026 NBA Draft.

As for Lucai Anderson, he's rated the No. 8 shooting guard, No. 19 player in Florida and No. 84 prospect overall in the rising senior class per 247sports composite rankings.
"Anderson is a developmental guard, who has clear tools, but is still not nearly a finished product," wrote 247sports Director of Scouting Andrew Finkelstein. "The lefty has a high upside because of his overlap of perimeter size (following a late growth spurt), budding skill, and playmaking ability. He also gets rave reviews for his work-ethic and overall approach, which only make continued progression more likely."
He held offers from programs such as Alabama, Texas Tech, Villanova and Arizona State, but instead has committed to the Wolverines. Michigan opens its 2026-27 regular season on Nov. 3 against Oakland in Ann Arbor.
