The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum has published a book documenting the sacrifices of nine Sanatan faith followers killed during the 2024 mass uprising.
Titled 'Bisarjan: Sanatan Martyrs of the July Mass Uprising', the book was released today (19 October) ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja, paying tribute to the martyrs from the Hindu community.
The nine martyrs are Shree Shuvo Sheel, Riya Gop, Hridoy Chandra Tarua, Saikat Chandra Dey, Tonoy Chandra Das, Ripon Chandra Sheel, Rudra Sen, Dipto Dey and Ganga Charan Rajbongshi. They included students, children and working-class people.
The death of six-year-old Riya Gop during the uprising sparked widespread outrage across the country. She was fatally shot while playing on the rooftop of her residence.
The museum said 'Bisarjan' is the first Bengali-language publication dedicated to the Sanatan martyrs of the July uprising.
"In 24 July', we witnessed how the Awami League's so-called politics of patriotism had merely become a tool to cling to power. Ordinary citizens were indiscriminately killed to preserve that grip," said Ehasan Mahamud, director general of the museum.
"The publication 'Bisarjan' documents the stories of the Sanatan martyrs from the 2024 mass uprising. During this Sharadiya Durga Puja, we remember them with deep affection and love," he added.
The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum preserves memorabilia and personal mementoes of more than 500 martyrs of the 2024 uprising, including the nine Sanatan community members.
The museum was inaugurated on 5 August, 2026, by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Priced at Tk 50, 'Bisarjan' is available at the museum and select bookstores across the country.
