The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has engaged, trained and deployed 11,788 beneficiaries under its Community Police Assistant module to support the Ghana Police Service and contribute to public safety as of September 2026.
The agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, disclosed this during the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, October 21, stating that the initiative combines youth employment with practical experience in community service and security.
He said the programme, which operates under the YEA’s Youth in Community Service and Security Module, was designed to provide additional human resource support to the police while exposing young people to opportunities in law enforcement.
Basintale explained that beneficiaries receive professional training and orientation from the Ghana Police Service to prepare them for their assigned responsibilities.
He said they are also equipped with the logistics and skills required to support the country’s security system.
“The Community Police Assistant module is a project under the Youth Employment Agency, under our module termed as Youth in Community Service and Security Module, developed to provide human resource support for the Ghana Police Service, as well as provide the opportunity for the youth to experience the service and explore the possibilities of pursuing a career in the field while contributing to public safety,” he said.
According to him, the programme allows participants to gain practical exposure to security work, develop relevant skills and consider long-term careers in law enforcement and related fields.
Basintale said “In this regard, I am happy to report that as of September 2026, the YEA engaged, trained and deployed a total of 11,788 beneficiaries under the Community Police Assistance Module.”
The initiative forms part of the YEA’s broader efforts to create employment opportunities for young people while supporting public institutions with personnel to improve service delivery.
