Unlike in the past, when its nuclear sector was built around Soviet-designed reactors, Slovakia is spreading its bets more widely. In recent years, it has broadened nuclear cooperation with France, South Korea and the United States.
Cooperation with the United States spans preparations for a large reactor, the possible deployment of SMRs, and the diversification of fuel supplies. These projects are at different stages, however, and none of the agreements signed so far constitutes a construction contract.
