Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has revealed he would love to play in La Liga one day, while insisting he remains fully committed and happy at the Premier League champions.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca on Wednesday, the 31-year-old Spain international left the door open for a future return to his homeland.
Raya, whose contract with Arsenal runs until June 2028, has spent his entire professional career in England after leaving Spain as a teenager.
“Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out LaLiga,” Raya told Marca. “For now, I’m very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league. I think it’s a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish, and I’d love to play there, that’s for sure.”
The Barcelona-born keeper joined Arsenal from Brentford, initially on loan in 2023 before making the move permanent.
He has established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers, helping the Gunners win the Premier League last season, securing a third consecutive Golden Glove, and contributing to deep runs in the Champions League and domestic cups.
He was also part of Spain’s World Cup-winning squad in the summer, though he did not feature on the pitch.
Reflecting on his recent form, Raya described the past campaign as his best yet. “I believe I’ve had a perfect year. Perhaps the only thing missing was playing in the World Cup. Every year since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve continued to improve and hopefully that will keep happening.”
Looking ahead with Arsenal, he set clear ambitions: “My goal is to win everything. We want to establish ourselves as favourites. Hopefully we can go one better this year by lifting the Champions League, but there is still a long way to go.”
