The police command in Niger has arrested a suspect for theft and recovered two stolen cows in Mokwa town.
This is contained in a statement on Sunday by its spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun.
Mr Abiodun said that on October 16, at about 9:00 p.m., intelligence received by Mokwa Division indicated that two cows suspected to have been stolen were sighted in the residence of a 57-year-old in Tungan-Noma, Mokwa.
“On receipt of the information, the police surveillance team of the division mobilised to the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the two cows.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he received the cows for safekeeping from one Abdullahi Dandamega of Tungan-Noma Village, Mokwa, currently at large,” Mr Abiodun said.
According to Mr Abiodun, the owner of the stolen cows has been identified and contacted, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect and other accomplices, after which the case will be charged in court for prosecution.
