Nagad, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Postal Department, has launched a redesigned mobile app aimed at making digital financial transactions faster, easier and more secure.
The app is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Customers must update it before making new transactions to ensure uninterrupted services, according to the press release.
Nagad said the app combines a user-friendly interface with advanced technology to improve customers' everyday financial experience. It will be upgraded in phases, with additional features and improvements planned.
The company described the redesigned app as one of the safest in the country's financial sector and said its response, loading and lag times were significantly lower than those of other financial service apps.
Frequently used features have been organised for customer convenience. Nagad said the simple design would also make the app easier to use for marginalised communities.
Core services include payments, sending money, mobile recharge, cash withdrawals and utility bill payments, alongside interoperability features. The company said these services would support greater flexibility in transactions and contribute to Bangladesh's transition towards a cashless society.
Additional financial services, including loans, fixed deposits and insurance, will be introduced shortly, Nagad said.
The redesigned app places particular emphasis on reducing transaction-related fraud risks. A device-binding feature has been introduced to help safeguard customer accounts.
Nagad said the app incorporates a multilayered security framework aligned with international standards, supported by advanced fraud prevention systems designed to protect customer information and funds.
Artificial intelligence has also been incorporated into the security system to detect and prevent suspicious activity in real time, including attempts involving AI-based hacking.
Md Motasem Billah, the administrator appointed by Bangladesh Bank to Nagad, said, "The new app has been launched prioritising maximum customer convenience alongside financial security. We have combined a modern user-friendly experience with a robust security framework in the new app. As a result, customers can complete their everyday digital transactions more easily and quickly while keeping their information and money secure."
He said Nagad's main goal was to create an ecosystem where customers could complete all their daily financial transactions through a single app.
New services and security features would be added continuously to meet customers' evolving financial needs, he added.
