KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Ara Johari suffered a terrifying ordeal recently when she was trapped in a lift for 40 minutes.
The 29-year-old former Akademi Fantasia 13 contestant shared that the incident took place at an event venue in Sarawak last Saturday, shortly after her performance at around 3.30pm.
Ara said: "The lift was stuck between Floors 3 and 4. Thank God I was not alone inside, as there were a few other people. One of us pressed the emergency bell, but nobody heard us as the lift was at the far end of the building."
With no mobile signal inside, the Kuala Pilah-born singer took matters into her own hands to get help.
"My manager and I opened the door a little, as there was no coverage for our phones. Thank God, help finally came in the nick of time!" she added, explaining how they managed to reach the security team on duty.
Despite the frightening situation, Ara remained remarkably composed throughout.
"I kept thinking that help was on the way, and it was just a matter of time," she said, adding that everyone was eventually rescued and took the emergency stairs back to their rooms.
