David Huffstutler, president and CEO of Austin, Texas-based St. David’s HealthCare, has shared plans to retire in March 2027, according to an Oct. 15 news release shared with Becker’s.
St. David’s HealthCare is a partnership between Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare and two nonprofits — St. David’s Foundation and Georgetown Health Foundation.
Mr. Huffstutler has served as president and CEO of St. David’s since February 2011. During that time, he oversaw the system expansion from 60 sites to more than 200 in Central Texas, including nine hospitals, 13 emergency centers, 39 urgent care clinics and 11 ambulatory surgery centers. The system also has 13,200 employees.
Mr. Huffstutler joined St. David’s in 2007 as CEO of St. David’s Medical Center in Austin prior to being named system president and CEO four years later. Before joining St. David’s, he served as CEO of Houston-based Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital for three years.
Mr. Huffstutler also serves as president of HCA Healthcare’s Central and West Texas Division, which includes Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, a two-hospital system in El Paso, Texas, in addition to St. David’s HealthCare in Central Texas.
HCA Healthcare is conducting a nationwide search for Mr. Huffstutler’s successor and expects to make that announcement in the next few months, the release said. He will serve in his existing roles through March 2027.
