Lennart Karl is currently going through the first minor slump of what has otherwise been a dream career so far. The 18-year-old has managed a relatively modest two goal contributions in nine competitive matches and has barely made an impact in most of his appearances.
That alone is, of course, no cause for concern for a teenager who could technically still be playing for the under-19s. Especially since Karl is coming back from a muscle tear that, among other things, cost him a place at the 2026 World Cup.
According to a report in 'Bild', however, Bayern's bosses are said to be growing increasingly irritated with their young star. The club's hierarchy is reportedly particularly unhappy with Karl's conduct off the pitch. Specifically, the concern is his sometimes extravagant lifestyle and how regularly he flaunts it on social media.
Those in charge would like Karl to take a leaf out of teammate Tom Bischof's book in this regard. The midfielder, who is also in a relationship with an influencer, is considered exceptionally hard-working in training and is less active on social media.
Bayern's top brass reportedly want to see Karl develop along similar lines.
In public, though, the young talent is naturally being protected. Vincent Kompany came to his player's defence: "He hasn't really shown the form he had last season yet, but that's okay too. He knows I also expect that to happen sometimes. He's still young and has had a few physical problems. He'll be back. I'm not worried!"
