A man was found dead in the bush near his home at Sauyemwa location at Rundu on Sunday evening.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 18h00 opposite Kahonzo Filling Station in the Kavango East region. The man, identified as Kambongi Hausiku, was reportedly ill before his death, the police say.
Hausiku reportedly left his residence to relieve himself in the nearby bush when he allegedly collapsed and died. His mother reportedly went looking for him after he took longer to return home.
“Upon reaching the nearby road, she found a group of people gathered around a person who had allegedly collapsed and died. She approached the body and identified the deceased as her son,” Kavango East police head of crime investigations Moses Simaho said on Monday.
Simaho said the deceased’s age has not yet been established.
His body was taken to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary, where it is being kept pending a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Simaho said no inquest has been registered at this stage, pending the outcome of the post-mortem examination.
He said police investigations continue.
