More than two years after releasing the ULT Field 1 wireless portable speaker, Sony has announced a color refresh for it. Originally available in four colors, the speaker now comes in a new Blue colorway in China and the US.
It has been a couple of years since Sony released the ULT Field 1 wireless portable speaker, the smaller and more affordable version of the ULT Field 3 and ULT Field 5. Now, Sony has refreshed the speaker with a new color option that is available in select markets.
When the ULT Field 1 portable speaker was announced in April 2024, it was released in four colors — Black, Forest Gray, Off-White, and Orange. Sony has now added a fifth color called Smoke Blue, and like the other colors, it has a matching strap.
The new Smoke Blue color option is priced at $139.99 in the US, the same price as the other colors. It is also available in China, where it is considerably cheaper at CNY 585 (~$87/€78), thanks to an ongoing discount, which is also available for the other colors. The full price in China is CNY 899 (~$134/€120).
Those in China can purchase the ULT Field 1 in Smoke Blue right away, but it isn't yet available to buy in the US even though it is already listed on the website. We also checked Amazon, but the new color isn't available there either, although the other colors are slightly cheaper at $138.
Nevertheless, save for the new color, the specs remain the same. The Sony ULT Field 1 is designed to sit upright or lay on its sides. There's a passive radiator on one side for enhancing bass sound, and a button labelled “ULT” which boosts the bass when you press it.
It also has echo cancelling for clear calls, an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, and is described as rustproof and shockproof. The Sony ULT Field 1 boasts a battery life of up to 12 hours and charges via USB-C. It has Bluetooth 5.3 with support for Fast Pair, and is compatible with the Sony Sound Connect app.
