The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has denied media reports alleging that it ordered the withdrawal of Mobile Police personnel from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the police described the report as unfounded and baseless.
“The report alleging the withdrawal of Mobile Police personnel from Ayilamo is false. Mobile Police personnel remain stationed in the area, alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical teams,” the statement affirmed.
Aondogwu said the military had deployed more personnel to reinforce security in the area.
“The public is therefore advised to disregard the misleading report,” he said.
However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, confirmed that the Mobile Police personnel had left the community with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) on Wednesday.
According to him, “The mobile police men left yesterday at 8 pm. Nobody is there. Brigadier Hassan only came for inspection on Monday and left with his team. There is nothing like the military deployed in Ayilamo.”
