Security forces foil infiltration bid by armed group in J&K's Keran, triggering brief gunfight

An encounter broke out in the Keran sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district early on Saturday after Army personnel challenged and intercepted a group of armed infiltrators.

The gunfight took place at around 3.40 am.

Following the encounter, security forces launched an intensive search operation to sanitise the area and ascertain whether any infiltrator had managed to sneak in.

Additional troops were mobilised to strengthen the operation as it continued.
