The Minnesota Vikings are one of three teams that remain undefeated through six weeks. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are the other two teams. Minnesota will have to fend off the 49ers for the top seed in the NFC, but the Vikings are set up with an all-world defense and an offense on the cusp of turning the corner, hopefully.
How does the NFL media view the Vikings heading into Week 7?
Bleacher Report: The Vikings remain at #3
Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report isn't buying the "easy schedule" narrative.
"There isn't a more surprising team in the NFL this year (at least in a positive way) than the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.
Naysayers will point to a relatively easy schedule and offensive inconsistency as reasons why they aren't as good their record. But Minnesota's ultra-aggressive defense is legit: second in yards allowed, third against the pass, fifth against the run and first in points allowed.
Edge-rusher Andrew Van Ginkel told reporters the defense's strength lies in its versatility.
"Things are constantly changing," he said. "It could be changing game to game. It could be changing from series to series. It could be changing from play to play. It could be changing within the play."
That defense is going to be tested coming up—after facing the struggling Colts at home in Week 7, the Vikings take on two of the league's best offenses in the Lions and Bills."
NFL.com: The Vikings rise four spots to #3
Nick Shook of NFL.com pushed the Vikings up due to the losses of teams around them at number seven.
"The Vikings jump up as a result of movement around them while they were on a bye. Their defense is elite and on a path toward claiming a place in history. Their offense started to figure things out before the week off, setting up a very interesting month ahead."
ESPN: The Vikings rise two spots to #4
ESPN ranks the 49ers, Chiefs, and Bills ahead of the Vikings despite the Bills record of 5-1 and ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert is concerned about the injuries across the board for the Vikings roster.
"The Vikings spent the five games before their bye searching for smooth air offensively. There were plenty of reasons for that, but the biggest was simply health-related personnel turnover. Players who have missed at least one game include quarterback Kyler Murray (concussion), receivers Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring), running back Jordan Mason (finger), left tackle Christian Darrisaw (concussion), left guard Donovan Jackson (knee), and tight ends T.J. Hockenson (concussion) and Josh Oliver (biceps). All but Jackson and Oliver are expected to return next week."
