SK hynix (000660.KS) Chief Executive Kwak Noh-jung invited employees of the company's suppliers and their families to an amusement park to thank them for underpinning South Korea's semiconductor competitiveness. The event was intended to go beyond technical and financial support by recognizing the efforts of partner employees and their families, reinforcing the chipmaker's push for shared growth.
SK hynix said on the 16th that it held a "ThanksFULL Day" event at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, on the 15th. A total of 30,000 people were invited, including about 8,000 employees from roughly 130 suppliers along with their families.
Kwak and other senior executives, including Cha Sun-yong, head of the Future Technology Research Institute and chief technology officer, and Lee Byung-ki, head of manufacturing and chief production officer, greeted attendees in person at the entrance to the venue.
Kwak visited the venue to thank those who attended. "This year's results are the fruit of sweat and effort accumulated together with our partner companies," he said. "I am deeply grateful to our suppliers, our employees at home and abroad, and their families, who have all done their best in their respective roles."
The venue featured hands-on activity zones for families to enjoy together, including a program designed to help children understand their parents' semiconductor plants through play. In the evening, singer Ailee and the band Jannabi performed, followed by a fireworks display.
SK hynix is also expanding its support for suppliers. In July, the company announced plans to invest 1.4 trillion won in shared-growth funds over the next five years to support suppliers of semiconductor materials, components and equipment. In 2027, it also plans to open the "Trinity Fab," a facility for joint research and development with suppliers, at its semiconductor cluster in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
