Domino’s is meeting a customer need for more personalized product options as it works to boost same-store sales growth, the company’s new CEO, Joe Jordan, said Tuesday (Oct. 13) during a third-quarter earnings call.
Jordan, who was previously chief operating officer and president of Domino’s U.S., became CEO and joined the board of directors Oct. 1 upon the retirement of Russell Weiner, who transitioned from CEO to executive chairman designate.
During his first earnings call in his new role, Jordan said he was “most excited” about a new product called the Domino, which launched Aug. 31. The Domino is a rectangular, two-slice pizza made for one and provides a way for each person to have a pizza with the toppings they want, even when part of a group that is sharing a meal, the company said in an Aug. 11 press release.

Jordan said the insight behind the Domino is that it meets a customer need in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) category that Domino’s calls the “me/we occasion,” where people can each have their individual choice while enjoying a meal together.
“Across QSR, consumers increasingly expect individual options, even when eating as part of a group,” Jordan said. “The Domino allows us to meet that need with a product designed for individual choice, while still preserving the shared occasion that makes pizza so special.”
The Domino may also allow Domino’s to compete for more occasions, such as orders on aggregator platforms, where customers are often looking for a meal for themselves, Jordan said.
Domino’s launched the Domino during a quarter in which year-over-year same-store sales growth slowed to 0.3% in U.S. stores, down from 5.2% in 2025, and 0.2% in international stores, down from 1.7%, according to a Tuesday press release.
The company saw order count growth in its core business, together with continued growth in its aggregator business, but that was partially offset by a lower average ticket, Domino’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Sandeep Reddy said during the call.
“While our ticket trend improved from the second quarter, it was impacted by a sequential decline in items-per-order in both our carry-out and first-party delivery business,” Reddy said. “We believe this was due to the challenging consumer environment.”
Together with innovative products, Domino’s is working to deliver more targeted promotions to customers through its website to drive up the items-per-order metric, Jordan said during the call.
