A 45-year-old woman has been arrested after police say suspects pulled off a series of thefts at a city sporting goods store and posted several stolen items for sale online.
According to Winnipeg Police Service news release, on Wednesday just before 2 p.m. officers from the Property Crime Unit arrested a 45-year-old woman in relation to an organized retail theft investigation.
Police say earlier this month, investigators received information about a series of thefts from a sporting goods store on the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway.
An investigation determined that between Sept. 28 and Oct. 15, suspects stole hunting and fishing equipment, electronics, clothing, and other merchandise valued at over $11,500.
Police also learned numerous stolen items had been listed on an online marketplace, with some items already sold to unsuspecting buyers.
Police identified one of the suspects and obtained a search warrant for a home on the 1600 block of Arlington Street. On Wednesday, investigators executed the search warrant and arrested a woman without incident.
Stolen property seized during the raid is valued at approximately $6,750, and investigators were also able to recover additional items previously sold through an online marketplace, valued at approximately $4,300.
The woman is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact the Property Crime Unit at 204-986-2426, or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
