The water level in the Bhavanisagar dam rose by 2.5 feet in a day following heavy rain in the catchment areas, reaching 64.55 feet at 8 a.m. on Saturday (October 24, 2026), against the full reservoir level of 105 feet. The level was 62.03 feet at 8 a.m. on Friday (October 23, 2026).
Officials of the Water Resources Department (WRD) said heavy rain in the catchment areas led to copious inflow into the dam on Saturday morning. However, the inflow began to decline later, from 56,672 cusecs at 8 a.m. to 48,894 cusecs at 10 a.m. and 36,394 cusecs at noon.
The dam’s storage stood at 8.81 thousand million cubic feet (TMC), accounting for 26.89% of its total capacity. The average inflow over the preceding 24 hours was 11,160 cusecs. The dam recorded 54.2 mm of rainfall. The outflow was five cusecs into the Lower Bhavani Project canal.
