The Washington Commanders were the butt of jokes across the NFL after their finish in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. The Commanders had a chance to win in overtime, but instead let the clock run out before quarterback Jayden Daniels could spike it to stop the clock.
Whether you blame Daniels, head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator David Blough, or all three, it was an embarrassing finish that cost Washington a win. Instead of moving to 2-3 and picking up their first NFC East win, the Commanders are now 1-3-1 and 0-2-1 in the division.
After the game, Quinn was upset and blamed himself for the inexcusable collapse. One person who didn’t speak at the end but clearly shared his frustration with the outcome was right guard Sam Cosmi.
David Harrison of WUSA 9 and the Locked on Commanders podcast captured this video of Cosmi leaving the field.

It’s hard to catch everything Cosmi said, but he clearly asked, “What are we doing?” at one point.
Cosmi, who just returned on Sunday after missing two games with a concussion, is one of the NFL’s best guards. He’s also a respected leader in Washington’s locker room. We don’t know who Cosmi was upset with, or if it was just general disgust; that’s not typically something we see from Cosmi.
Cosmi's reaction is in line with how most Washington players felt: a tie felt more like a loss, and the Commanders let a winnable game slip through their fingers.
