South African gospel heavyweights Benjamin Dube, Judith Sephuma, Ntokozo Mbambo and Dumi Mkokstad are among the artists set to perform at the One Faith Gospel Concert at SunBet Arena in Pretoria on December 16.
The concert, taking place on the Day of Reconciliation, will bring together established gospel performers and worship groups for an afternoon of music under the theme “All Be One”.
The line-up also includes Takie Ndou, Xolly Mncwango, Teboho Moloi, Oncemore Six and Methodist men's choir Amadodana Ase Wesile, with Shampoonaiza serving as master of ceremonies.
Presented by BT Entertainment, the event is scheduled to start at 4.00pm at SunBet Arena, Time Square, in Menlyn Maine.
A concert on the Day of Reconciliation
The choice of December 16 gives the concert a significance beyond its musical line-up, with organisers positioning the event around themes of unity and shared identity.
The Day of Reconciliation is a South African public holiday that reflects on the country's divided past and the ongoing pursuit of social cohesion.
In a statement, BT Entertainment said the concert aims to bring people together through gospel music and faith.
“One Faith is about bringing people together through the universal language of music and the shared experience of faith,” the organisers said.
“The theme 'All Be One' captures what we want audiences to take away: that despite our differences, there is strength in coming together, celebrating one another and sharing hope for the future.”
The programme will feature performances spanning different generations and traditions within South African gospel, from Dube's worship ministry to Sephuma's distinctive blend of gospel, jazz and soul influences.
